Krzystof (Kris) Burhardt, Ph.D.
Kris joined the Entreon board in 2000, bringing over 30 years of experience in developing and managing technology for several of the world's largest corporations including Honeywell International, Imation Corp. and 3M Corp.
Kris is currently a partner in Clotho & Associates, a venture capital firm focusing on identifying and financing new technology ventures. Prior to joining Clotho & Associations, Kris was vice president and chief technology officer for Honeywell International where he was responsible for global research and development. He also had strategic oversight for all Honeywell International research and development investments in the company's strategic business units.
Before joining Honeywell International, Kris was part of the 3M management team responsible for creating Imation Corp. when 3M decided to spin off the subsidiary in late 1995. During his three years as Imation's chief technology officer, Kris refocused and restructured the company's research and development functions, affecting 1,280 technical employees, and was directly responsible for a central technology organization, new business incubator and several international laboratories. He also was responsible for building and forming alliances to accelerate new technology and product development. Kris also chaired the Corporate Growth Team, responsible for identifying and evaluating acquisition candidates and internal growth opportunities.
Kris spent nearly 25 years in technology positions at 3M before joining the Imation spin-off management team. During his 3M career, Kris was involved in several key technology initiatives including:
- Serving as vice president of research and development for the Information, Imaging and Electronics sector;
- Identifying and establishing key strategic partnerships for research and development and business development purposes;
- Responsibility for sector laboratories with more than 550 research personnel in the United States and five other countries;
- Responsibility for government research and development activities and creation of the National Media Laboratory;
- Creating a corporate-wide software and electronic hardware design organization.
Kris also was a member of the 3M Technology Planning and Policy Committee and the newly-created 3M Business Extension Committee and was chairman of the Sector Strategic Business Planning Committee.
In addition to serving on the Entreon board, Kris is a member of the Executive Committee of the Minnesota High Tech Association board and the United States Air Force Science and Technology board. He also serves as an advisor to numerous other organizations including the Center for Nations in Transition at the H. H. Humphrey Institute of Public Affairs, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, and the University of Minnesota and Drexel University electrical and computer engineering programs.
